The Route
1️⃣ Lilly Pond
Start from the bus stop and head toward Lilly Pond, easing into the run on quiet paths as the surroundings gradually become greener and more enclosed.
This opening stretch is gentle and mostly flat, allowing you to settle into rhythm before reaching the more wooded sections.
2️⃣ Wild Garlic in The Dingle
Enter The Dingle and follow the path alongside the River Trym. This is the standout section of the route — a shaded woodland corridor with winding trails, fallen trees, and a slightly raised concrete platform that adds interest underfoot.
In spring, the woodland floor is carpeted in wild garlic, creating one of the most atmospheric stretches in the area. The terrain here is mildly uneven but very runnable, perfect for steady trail pacing.
3️⃣ Return Along the River Trym
Continue tracing the river as the trail loops back toward the start. The woodland gradually opens out, and the surface becomes smoother underfoot.
This section allows for a relaxed cool-down or a controlled tempo finish, depending on effort. The final kilometre is straightforward and accessible, bringing you back to the bus stop to complete the loop.
