A rolling 5.9 km hill loop across the Clent Hills, combining open ridge running, panoramic countryside views, and two of the area’s most recognisable high points. This route delivers proper elevation without stretching into long-distance territory — short, sharp, and scenic.

Route Overview

Distance: 5.9.km
Style: Hilly countryside loop
Start & Finish: Parking at Clent Hills
Surface: Grass trails, dirt paths, exposed hill tracks
Best Time to Run: Clear mornings for wide-ranging views

The Route

1️⃣ The Four Stones

Start from the parking area and climb steadily toward The Four Stones. Although they resemble an ancient monument, these striking pillars were erected in the 18th century.

The ascent is immediate and honest, warming the legs quickly. From the top, you’re rewarded with sweeping views across Worcestershire and the West Midlands — a dramatic opening to the run.

2️⃣ Ridge Running Across Clent

Continue along the undulating ridge paths. The terrain is a mix of grass and compact dirt, with steady rises and dips that keep the effort varied.

The exposure means wind can play a role, but it also delivers expansive views in every direction. This section is excellent for building hill strength while still being highly runnable.

3️⃣ Walton Hill Summit

Reach Walton Hill, the highest point on the Clent Hills at 316 metres (1,037 feet). It’s often quieter than neighbouring summits, making it a peaceful high point in the loop. The 360-degree views stretch across the Midlands and, on a clear day, far beyond.

4️⃣ Descent and Return

From Walton Hill, descend gradually back toward the starting point. The downhill sections are smooth but require controlled footing on grass and dirt. The final kilometre rolls gently before flattening near the car park, offering a strong but manageable finish.
