The Route
1️⃣ Savages Wood
Start from the bus stop and head into Savages Wood, a beautiful stretch of ancient woodland tucked away in the heart of Bradley Stoke. The tree canopy provides shade in summer and incredible colour in autumn.
The trail surface is mostly compact dirt with gentle undulations, making it enjoyable without being overly technical. It’s easy to lose yourself here as the winding paths feel far removed from surrounding residential areas.
2️⃣ Three Brooks Lake
Continue toward Three Brooks Lake, where the woodland opens up into a peaceful lakeside setting. The water reflects the surrounding trees, creating a calm atmosphere mid-run.
This section is flatter, allowing you to settle into rhythm while enjoying open views across the lake.
3️⃣ Three Brooks Gravel Path
Join the gravel track that loops around the lake and along the Three Brooks corridor. It’s generally a smooth and runnable surface, though it can become boggy near the water during winter months. A slight detour can help avoid the worst of it if conditions are wet.
4️⃣ Return to Finish
Follow the path back toward the starting bus stop, completing a gentle loop through woodland and open parkland. The final stretch is flat and straightforward, ideal for a relaxed cool-down.
