The Route
1️⃣ Waterfront Approach
Begin near the Quays and head towards the striking Imperial War Museum North. Its angular, fragmented design makes a dramatic opening landmark.
The wide waterside paths allow you to settle into rhythm immediately.
2️⃣ MediaCity Footbridge
Cross via the elegant MediaCityUK Footbridge, the asymmetric swing bridge linking MediaCity with the museum side of the canal.
Pause briefly mid-span for one of the best skyline views in Greater Manchester.
3️⃣ Salford Quays Views
As you loop around, you’ll get expansive views across Salford Quays — reflective water, modern residential towers and open skies.
This stretch feels open and airy compared to canal routes
4️⃣ Blue Peter Garden
A small but charming detour takes you through the Blue Peter Garden — landscaped greenery tucked among the modern developments.
It adds contrast before rejoining the waterfront.
5️⃣ View of Old Trafford
Around 4km, look across for distant views of Old Trafford, home of Manchester United.
It’s a subtle but iconic closing highlight before returning to your start point.
