The Route
1️⃣ Start at Westminster Bridge
Begin your run beside the Thames at Westminster Bridge. With the Houses of Parliament behind you and the river ahead, it’s one of the most iconic starting lines in Europe.
Head east along the South Bank.
2️⃣ South Bank Flow
This stretch is lively, scenic and flat — perfect for settling into your pace.
You’ll pass:
- London Eye
- Street performers and riverside cafés
- Open views across to St Paul’s Cathedral
The path is wide but can get busy later in the day, so aim for an early start if possible.
3️⃣ Waterloo bridge turn around
Continue east until you reach Waterloo bridge.
Cross the bridge — take a second to enjoy the view — then head back west along the north side of the river.
4️⃣ Northumberland Avenue
The Embankment side feels slightly calmer and more direct.
Head up Northumberland Avenue till you arrive at Trafalgar Square.
5️⃣ Admiralty arch, the mall, buckingham palace
Head through Admiralty Arch and continue down The Mall until you reach Buckingham Palace.
Head right when you arrive at Buckingham Palace and head east down Birdcage Walk
Finish where you started at Westminster Bridge.
