The Route
1️⃣ Haigh Hall Estate
Begin near the estate entrance and ease into the wide park paths. Early on, you’ll pass the attractive pond and fountain near Haigh Hall — a calm opening before heading deeper into the grounds.
The estate setting immediately feels spacious and elevated.
2️⃣ Woodland Descent
As the route progresses, you’ll move into wooded trails. The tree cover provides shade and a more immersive, countryside feel.
This section introduces gentle undulations — enough to keep things interesting without becoming technical.
3️⃣ Canal Bridge in the Woods
Around the 2km mark, you’ll reach the secluded bridge over the canal, tucked away beneath the woodland canopy.
It’s a subtle highlight — peaceful, slightly hidden and a nice psychological checkpoint before looping back uphill.
4️⃣ Climb & Return
The return stretch gradually climbs back toward the estate grounds. It’s not steep, but you’ll feel it — a good opportunity for controlled effort.
Finish back near the bus stop access point, completing a well-balanced 5.4km.
